Do you shoot with Canon or Nikon?
It really doesn’t matter- I’m a photographer. A good photographer can make good pictures with a smartphone.

Can you make a living as a travel photographer?
Well, yes and no. In recent years, with the spread of digital cameras and online stock and micro stock agencies, it has become much more difficult to make money off of pictures. Luckily for me, that’s the world I went into right from the start and I never had to adapt, like more veteran photographers. This website is my way of dealing with the situation: I try to maximize every assignment I have, being it paid or self assigned- the client pays for the pictures or I use them for stock, I write articles, create lectures and sell prints. That way I get the most out of everything I do.

What’s your favorite place to travel?
Out of all the places I’ve been to, I have the fondest memories from Argentina: the people, the food, the scenery, the wine, the women… Everything was amazing. I’m not sure if it was truly that or that I just had such a good time everything seems idyllic. In any case, I’ve made it a point to go back as soon as I get the chance!

What’s the most interesting place you’ve ever been to?
Wow… That’s a tough one. Every place has its own charm. At times I think that Israel, my home land, is the most interesting place on earth. In such a small place you can find such extremes and variety, different scenery and people, religions and history. However, I think that I truly felt most dumbfounded in Cuba. The people are great, the music amazing and the views spectacular, but being there felt like a huge sociological experiment for most of the time: people support Castro and the revolution even if it clearly makes them miserable, other’s hate both in spite of the fact that Cuba has the lowest illiteracy rate in the world and everyone gets free medical care. The advantages and disadvantages are so extreme and the forces that pull away or towards the west are very powerful. To me it was a like one continuous roller coaster ride…

What’s your dream assignment?
My wish list of places I’d like to go photograph only gets longer over time- the more I see and learn, the more I hear about places that I’d like to visit. However, I do have three dream assignments, which I plan to make happen, either through a client or by myself: shooting in the depth of the Brazilian Amazon, in the vast National Park Wrangell-St. Elias in Alaska and shooting Mountain Gorillas in the Congo.
